FISH-FLO2 OXYGEN INFUSION SYSTEMS

SERIOUS ANGLERS CHOICE FOR KEEPING LIVE BAIT ALIVE

I was out in Las Vegas this past July at the ICAST (International Convention of Allied Sport fishing Trades) show.  I was introduced to many new products, but one that was most interesting to me as a tournament angler was the baitwell oxygen infusion system by FISH-FLO2.  I fish many striped bass tournaments up and down the east coast and many of these tournaments are won by tournament anglers fishing with live bait.  Therefore most tournament anglers spend many more hours chasing fresh live bait than they do actually fishing in the tournaments.

I have had many unsuccessful attempts at transporting live bait from one location to another, in hopes of having a tournament angler’s advantage with live bait.  I proposed to the people of FISH-FLO2 a true product challenge.  I explained that I have a great source of live bait from a commercial pound netter friend in the Chesapeake Bay, and that I wanted to transport this live bait from the Chesapeake Bay to our baitwell at the tournament fishing grounds in Old Saybrook, CT.

The guys from FISH-FLO2 sent me the baitwell system that was best suited my needs. They explained that deep water, with its associated higher pressure, holds more air (20% oxygen) than surface water. That’s why fish are prone to sufficacation even with aeration. FISH-FLO2 eliminates suffocation by precisely delivering the optimum amount of 100% oxygen to the baitwell .They have many different systems that are designed for proper oxygenation of all sizes of baitwells.

With a clear understanding of the objective of transporting 40 live bait menhaden 10 to12 inches, my friend and I went to his commercial pound net in the Chesapeake Bay.  We had one 55 gallon drum in his skiff that he works his net with. We got to his trap and the live bait was plentiful. The product challenge changed a little due to the variety of fish that were in the trap.  We decided to try this product challenge with 25 menhaden (10 to 12 inches, 15 spot medium size, 5 croakers, and finally 2 butter fish.  We returned to the dock and to my boat on the trailer that was ready with another 55 gallon drum with the FISH-FLO2 Oxygen system in operation.  We carefully placed the bait into the drum on the boat.  A few minutes later I started the 10 hour drive with normal traffic from Virginia to Old Saybrook, CT.  I stopped every three hours to refuel the truck, and every time I looked at the bait they were very active and wanted to jump out when the lid opened. The actual driving time turned into 11 hours and 15 minutes.

When I arrived at the marina and tournament check out site I was amazed to find that every one of the baits made the journey from the Chesapeake Bay alive and well. Even the very fragile Butter fish made it alive and well. I was ready to start the tournament using FISH-FLO2 and lively oxygenated bait in my livewell. Throughout the tournament my bait stayed active and lively.

Thanks to the FISH-FLO2 oxygen system, a winning weekend could be right around the corner.  This system can also help many others anglers enjoy an exciting day on the water with highly energized bait. FISH-FLO2 is the complete American made Oxygen Marine Infusion Systems for live wells and baitwells.
