THE FISH-FLO2 OXYGENATION SYSTEM

All living creatures, including fish, need Oxygen to live. Stressed fish in a warm livewell consume more Oxygen than they would in a natural setting making Oxygen depletion a common cause of demise for both bait fish and catch-and-release tournament fish. Super saturation of Oxygen in the livewell water creates an environment for active supercharged bait and healthy tournament fish.

The FISH-FLO2 oxygenation system increases the level of available oxygen by releasing micro-oxygen bubbles into the water. These bubbles dissolve into the water as they rise to the surface. Small bubbles have a much greater amount of surface area in relation to their volume than do larger bubbles. The pure oxygen and the high ratio of surface area to volume accomplishes three important things.

First, only Oxygen gas is being dissolved into the water with the FISH-FLO2 system. Typical aeration systems use atmospheric air which is 78 percent Nitrogen and only 21 percent oxygen. As the water is only capable of holding a fixed amount of  gas at a given temperature, it only makes sense not to take up this precious space between the water molecules with Nitrogen and other harmful gases. Also, super saturation of the water with air creates a toxic environment. This is a primary cause why typical aeration systems fail to deliver the desired results.

Second, the high ratio of surface area to volume of the oxygen bubble allows the oxygen to dissolve quicker. Only the portion of the bubble directly in contact with the water, the outside of the sphere, is effective in transferring the oxygen to the water.

Third, because smaller bubbles are more effective in transferring oxygen into the water, fewer of the bubbles make it to the top surface of the tank before they are dissolved. As any oxygen escaping from the water into the air is wasted, this allows for more economical operation of the system while providing the fish with an oxygen enriched environment.
